Originally G and L Clothing was opened in 1917 in Des Moines, Iowa for nearly ten years to sell work shoes, shirts, pants to railroad workers and farmers and tradesman to include dress clothes.

The business changed hands and moved until an unfortunate fire that burned down their building.
After the fire the present owners decided to build a new store that now resides now at Ingersoll Avenue. In 1999 they launched their online e-commerce G and L Clothing.com in 2005
Clothing: They carry work clothing for men and women in Big, tall regular sizing in brands like Carhartt, Dickies,Levi’s®, Dockers®, Wrangler, Savane and more. For women they carry accessories, shirts, vests, pants, hats, belts, socks and more.
For children there are bib overalls, oneses for babies, insulated overalls, sweatshirts and t-shirts, hats, socks. Whether you need clothing for spring, summer fall or winter they have it all.
Work Shoes: They also carry safety-toe, met-guard, slip-resistant, insulated, rubber, casual, dress, and athletic styles; with boot and shoe sizes ranging from 6 to 16 in regular, wide and extra wide widths.
