In the late 60’s, an American art collector James Kaplan and French pianist Gerard Courtin met in New York to open a fashion accessories boutique on Fifth Avenue. They named their brand Jacomo: Ja for James, Co for Courtin and Mo to give the name a musical touch.
Always passionate about the arts, they discovered a new passion for perfumery. The first Jacomo perfume, Eau Cendrée was launched in 1970. Then came the success of Silences for Women in 1978 and then came success of Jacomo de Jacomo in 1980, which reached the top 10 men’s fragrance of the decade enabling Jacomo to become a recognized perfume house.
